Tips for Staying Safe on Public Wi-Fi

What is a VPN

The article shared that if you want to keep your information safe and prevent your devices from being hacked, you should know more about what a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is.

Technology today allows us to stay connected, shop, work and even manage money all from our computers and smart phones. But with all that information online, it opens us up to risks including theft and abuse of personal information.

That’s where a Virtual Private Network (VPN) comes in.

How a VPN helps public wi-fi security

According to the article, “A VPN is an online service that allows consumers to encrypt all their web traffic as it comes and goes from their devices. This secures the data in an impenetrable tunnel that stops anybody from being able to analyze or steal their data and web-browsing habits.”

In other words, a VPN encrypts your data and masks your IP address as well. This makes you much more protected if there are any local network attacks with the purpose of stealing data.
